Dr. Ts. Siti Aiasah Hashim, a professional in nuclear science and technology, made history as the first female Director General of the Malaysian Nuclear Agency in October 2020. She holds a Ph.D. in Applied Physics from the University of Malaya, a registered Professional Technologist in Nuclear and Radiological Technology and the incumbent President of Women in Nuclear (Malaysian Chapter).  

She has been an active researcher since the beginning of her career in 1991.  Starting with being the first female engineer responsible for the operation and maintenance of a high energy 3.0 MeV electron beam machine and with more than 25 years of experience in accelerator technology and its applications, she has demonstrated excellence in scientific leadership, and has laboured unceasingly in advancing the field of nuclear technology in Malaysia.  

She has written, published and presented more than 30 papers, won several local and international innovation awards including becoming Nuclear Malaysia’s Woman Inventor in 20XX. Similarly, she has represented Malaysia at many national and international forums to share her expertise. 

Prior to her retirement, she secured almost RM 100 M from the 12th Malaysia Plan (RMK) and MOSTI’s Strategic Fund to ensure research and development in Nuclear Malaysia is sustained at least until the next cycle of the RMK budget. 

Currently, she is still actively promoting Nuclear Technology through WiN Malaysia. With her expertise in accelerator, she is appointed as the technical consultant for a local scanner manufacturer. She is also an active advocate for ISO based management systems including quality management and cyber security.
