Azril Hanif Zainal
With over 17 years of experience in the power generation industry, Azril has wealth of experience in design, construction, commissioning supervision, project management, technical due diligence, and operations and maintenance of thermal and renewable energy projects, including solar photovoltaic systems across Malaysia, Southeast Asia, Northeast Asia and Australia.
As the Malaysia Energy Leader at Arup, he leads the team in delivering large power generation projects, especially renewable energy. He has experience in overseeing financial management as well as reporting to international commercial lenders and stakeholders in the relevant energy projects. In addition, he has recently supported a few data centre projects in Malaysia, focusing on energy supply options and grid connection schemes.
Azril is a registered Professional Engineer with Practising Certificate with Board of Engineer, Malaysia and a former Alternate Member of Malaysia’s grid code committee. His previous roles include stints with a UK-based consulting firm, Malaysian independent power producers such as Malakoff Corporation Berhad and Jimah Energy Ventures (now Edra Energy).
