Dr Azlina Mohammad Jais
Dr. Azlina Mohammad Jais has extensive professional experience in Nuclear Science and Technology. She holds a Doctorate in Nuclear Science and has held various key positions throughout her career. She has over 25 years of regulatory experience, having served two energy regulators in Malaysia namely the Atomic Energy Licensing Board (AELB) and the Energy Commission (EC). She had also worked at the Department of Standards Malaysia (DSM) under the Ministry of Science ,Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) and the Malaysia Nuclear Power Corporation (MNPC) which was the Nuclear Energy Programme Implementing Organisation (NEPIO) under the Prime Minister’s Department. Among the leading positions she has held were Acting CEO of MNPC, Director of Nuclear Installation of AELB, Head of Nuclear Power Regulatory Coordination of MNPC, and National Coordinator for the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Technical Cooperation Project on nuclear power regulatory matters. In recognition of her experience and expertise, the IAEA invited her as Member of the International Nuclear Safety Advisory Group (INSAG), a position accorded to experts in nuclear and radiation safety.
After the closure of MNPC, she joined the EC as the Deputy Director of Strategic Planning and Communication, a position she held from October 2019 to March 2023, where she was given the responsibility to manage the overall promotion and external relations on matters related to energy. With current global trend towards energy transition to address climate change and net zero carbon goals by 2050, she now holds the key role of Senior Analyst (Energy Data and Research) to advise the EC on regulatory research on energy matters including the nuclear option
