EGAT accelerates the 3rd Hydro-Floating Solar Hybrid project at Srinagarind Dam, Kanchanaburi Province, to generate clean energy and support the goal of Carbon Neutrality. The sale of bidding documents is now available at https://www4.egat.co.th/fprocurement/biddingeng/main/3208.
Mr. Thidade Eiamsai, Deputy Governor – Power Plant Development and Renewable Energy of Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), revealed that EGAT is pushing ahead with the development of Hydro-Floating Solar Hybrid Project, Srinagarind Dam, Unit 1 in Kanchanaburi Province. With a generating capacity of 140 MW, the project will generate electric power from solar energy combined with hydropower from the existing dam to ensure stability and reduce fluctuations of renewable energy, resulting in a continuation and efficiency of power generation. The project will enhance the country’s power system security with no impact on the aquatic ecosystem and environment. It is also a part of implementations to achieve Carbon Neutrality by 2050 and Net Zero Emissions by 2065, through the concrete carbon offset and avoidance mechanism. The project is scheduled to start its commercial operation within 2026.
The Hydro-Floating Solar Hybrid Project, Srinagarind Dam, Unit 1 is EGAT’s third project following the 45 MW Hydro-Floating Solar Hybrid at Sirindhorn Dam in Ubon Ratchathani Province and the 24 MW Hydro-Floating Solar Hybrid at Ubol Ratana Dam in Khon Kaen Province, both of which are now commercially operating. In compliance with the Power Development Plan (PDP2018 Revision 1), EGAT will continue to develop such projects at EGAT’s nine dams with a total capacity of 2,725 MW.
EGAT is now selling bidding documents for the Hydro-Floating Solar Hybrid Project, Srinagarind Dam, Unit 1. The bidding documents are available for purchase from today until July 3, 2024, and bids will be opened on August 14, 2024 (the schedule is subject to change).
