JAKARTA 5 MARCH 2025 - The Ministry of Utility and Telecommunication Sarawak (MUT) and Sarawak Energy successfully concluded a business mission to Jakarta, Indonesia, reinforcing Sarawak’s commitment to regional energy partnerships.

During a visit to Indonesia’s national electricity provider, PLN (Perusahaan Listrik Negara) at its corporate office, the Sarawak delegation met with PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo and engaged in dialogues on future projects, reaffirming their commitment to working together for the mutual advancement of Malaysia and Indonesia.

Building on the success of the Sarawak-West Kalimantan interconnection project, which has been operational since 2016, Sarawak Energy and PLN discussed potential future cross-border energy initiatives to enhance regional energy security and support ASEAN’s power grid aspirations.

As Sarawak Energy continues its ambition to be a regional powerhouse, the business mission provided an opportunity to strengthen relationships with key stakeholders in Indonesia and reaffirm its commitment to sustainable energy solutions and cross-border collaboration. The delegation also introduced the Sustainability & Renewable Energy Forum (SAREF), its flagship biennial event, as a key platform for continued dialogue on regional energy transition. SAREF 4.0, set for September 2025, will bring together industry leaders and policymakers to further discussions on cross-border collaboration and sustainable energy solutions.

The mission deepened engagement with key stakeholders and reinforced the close ties between Sarawak Energy and its partners in Indonesia’s energy sector. Sarawak Energy remains committed to fostering collaboration and meaningful partnerships in the journey towards a sustainable energy future.

The delegation was led by The Honourable Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Haji Junaidi, Deputy Minister of Utility and Telecommunication Sarawak; The Honourable Dato Haji Ibrahim Haji Baki, Chairman of Sarawak Energy; and Datuk Haji Sharbini Suhaili, Group Chief Executive Officer of Sarawak Energy.

Also present were Nur Pamudji, Director of PT Kayan Nusantara, Syed Mohamad Fauzi Shahab, MUT Deputy Permanent Secretary and Director of Electricity Supply, alongside senior leaders from Sarawak Energy and MUT.
