EGAT and TAT Launch “Workation Paradise throughout Thailand Season 2,” Highlighting 8 Dams Nationwide
20 January 2025 - The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) joins hands with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) to launch a project called “Workation Paradise throughout Thailand Season 2,” to support the new trend of Workation, a blend of work and tourism. EGAT invites visitors to explore the natural atmosphere of eight EGAT dams across the country and offers a 30% discount of its accommodations. The project aims at boosting the local economy and creating a balance between work and leisure.
Mr. Chawalit Kankham, EGAT Assistant Governor – Renewable Power Plant, revealed that the Workation trend becomes popular after the shift of working style from “Work from Home” to “Work from Anywhere” due to the COVID-19 pandemic. EGAT has therefore collaborated with TAT to carry out the Workation Paradise Throughout Thailand Season 2. The project allows the visitors to experience working amidst the peaceful and beautiful atmosphere of eight EGAT dams which are Bhumibol Dam in Tak Province, Sirikit Dam in Uttaradit Province, Srinagarind and Vajiralongkorn Dams in Kanchanaburi Province, Ubol Ratana Dam in Khon Kaen Province, Sirindhorn Dam in Ubon Ratchathani Province, Chulabhorn Dam in Chaiyaphum Province, and Rajjaprabha Dam in Surat Thani Province, during January 16 – March 30, 2025.
Mr. Chawalit Kankham added that EGAT has been supporting the Workation project of TAT since 2020 through a room rate discount. EGAT has also improved the quality of its accommodation of the dams and power plants to meet the SHA Plus standard and launched a variety of promotions to promote tourism. This project reflects EGAT's commitment to being a partner of TAT in driving the recovery of local economy, with a focus on communities and nature. Every journey not only builds happiness but also enhances the growth of Thai economy sustainably.
“EGAT dams are not only vital power sources of the country but beautiful tourist destinations. Come to experience the picturesque scenery of eight dams, each of which has its own identity and charm, to recharge energy and indulge yourself with the serenity of nature. The project will not only provide a refreshing work atmosphere but also help foster the growth of the local economy. We are proud of being a part of this project and ready to welcome all visitors,” said Mr. Chawalit.
